Dear Linda,
Thanks for offering to do lookups in your Annals of Harrisburg. Would
you please look up Henry C. HOFFMAN? He was born in September 1804, son
of Michael and Mary Hoffman, and went to Harrisburg as a young man to
learn carpentry. He then worked for a while for Samuel Holman in
Harrisburg. Holman was a well-known builder and architect. Among the
public works constructed under his supervision were bridges over the
Susquehanna and Schuylkill. He was also the architect for the
courthouses at Lewistown and Harrisburg. Perhaps the book would mention
some of his workers.
