Thanks for the picture, Myrna, of a generic home that pre-dates 1900
and copies of which were built EVERYWHERE you went! It somewhat
resembles my old home in ROYALTON; it somewhat resembles my wife's
relatives in LOWER SWATARA TOWNSHIP, the WEALANDS, and it sort of
resembles a lot of homes along a lot of the streets in a lot of the
towns!
Wow, what a task locating this home will be. I printed out a glossy
copy and will include it in my binder for 'looking around Middletown'.
I'll also share it with other 'old timers' who give me great leads and
memories.

Could anyone tell where the records for the Emaus Orphanage are kept? I
am
searching for information on my gggrandparents and their children. All
I
know is that my ggrandfather, Harry Whitman, b. Oct 9, 1860, grew up in
an
orphanage that is no longer in existence and was located somewhere
behind
Highspire or Middletown. The family story says that Harry had seven
other
siblings when one of the parents died. The surviving parent was not
able to
care for all the children and put them in the orphanage.

Donna:
In addition to the Emaus home in Middletown, there was another, the
JEDNOTA home, in LOWER SWATARA TOWNSHIP, which is located somewhere
behind Highspire and Middletown. I know several people who might know
if there are any records left on the children that grew up there. That
old building is gone, also.

I didn't really know of all these MIDDLETOWNs in PENNSYLVANIA, but was
aware there were others. Thanks for sharing this with me.
Regards to all, and keep hunting. We're NOT on posted ground!
