I have a book about Steelton. It indicates that the first Catholic church
in Steelton was St. James. Then as the population increased, differences in
languages caused the creation of four more churches - St. Mary's (1898) for
Croatian, St John's (1901) for German, St Ann's (@ 1901)for Italian and St
Peter's (1898) for Slovenian immigrants. There is no mention of a Damian
Catholic Church. It is possible that if there were such a church, it might
be in Harrisburg or another small town near Steelton. You might contact the
Diocese of Harrisburg or the Dauphin County Historical Society to enquire
about the churches in Steelton.

death that occurred in 1909. According to the funeral home, the service was
to be held at her father's home. It also mentions Damien Catholic Church.
The family lived in Steelton, and at that time, the only German Catholic
Church that existed as far as I know was St. Johns. I checked the 1915 city
directory for Harrisburg and Steelton, and there is no mention of this
church. Does anyone on the list have knowledge of this church?
