In 1888 Wm. K. Rahm died at the age of 84 in Huntingdon Co. At the time of
his death a newspaper mentioned: "His father was sheriff of Dauphin co. in
1804, [and] also a member of the Legislature which met in Philadelphia.
There is preserved to this day by friends a letter written by George
Washington to Melcher Rahm on some official business."
