That area that you speak of is wonderfully interesting to visit. As kids we
used to wander through the dense undergrowth around those very old stones
and imagine we were in an old-world cemetery (and in a sense, we were). The
wording is mostly in Cyrillic. I know the alphabet and could read the
names, but don't know enough of the language to translate the actual
wording.

Unfortunately many of the photographs on the stones had been removed by
vandals even back then (1970's). It's good to hear that some have survived.
I haven't been to that part of the cemetery in decades.

I'd also like to intraject that there is a very old part in the "back" of
the Baldwin Cemetery - down over the hill - where only persons of Slavik
origin are buried. Their tombstones [which are in foreign wording] are very
weather-worn and this part is really in need of repair. Some of the stones
[more up the hill] towards the newer part have portraits of the persons who
are buried there - they were a most handsome group!

Has this part of the cemetery ever been translated and transcribed?
