Rita,
I have seen the name spelled RATHER in a few censuses but in all other cases
it has been RAHTER. The family was in Littlestown, Adams County.
A few were in Gettysburg,Philadelphia, and, of course, Harrisburg. Have never
come across RATTLER. Also, have not seen an Allentown connection. Christian
RAHTER and his wife Charlotte WEHMEIER immigrated abt 1845 from Prussia to
Littlestown (after a brief stay in Conestoga).
