Daniel - John and Hester (Esther) are in the 1860 Halifax census John(age
66), Hester(57), sons John the shoemaker(27), Peter(25), Amos(17), Henry(16,
eventually marries Ellen), David(13) and daughter Margaret(9).
By the 1870 Halifax census John says that he is 77, Hester (now listing
herself as Ann E.) is 66, daughter Ann is 25 and son David is 23. a couple
of doors away is their shoemaker son John Jr.(39) now married to an
Elizabeth and with 2 young children Sarah(6) and Henry(2).
By the 1880 census, John Chubb Sr has died and his widow Esther (transcribed
as Eister) is now 77 and she and her son Peter are living with her son Henry
(age 36) and his wife Ellen and their 2 small children Ida C.(age 6) and
John H.(age 3). John and Ester's son Henry appears to have been born about
1844 and lists himself as a blacksmith. I would therefore gather that your
Henry might be a younger brother of John Chubb Sr. as he is definitely not a
son.
