The good news is that the folks in Utah are testing the site
so when it does go on line it will be reliable.

Hello all-

There has been a lot of information floating around about
the LDS Family Search site, so I called the Family History
Library in Salt Lake and PERSONALLY TALKED TO THE PEOPLE IN
CHARGE OF THE WEBSITE.
Currently at: http://www.eval.familysearch.com there is a
test of the
family search site. Only a few people have been invited to
use the site
and you need a password to get access. That site will shut
down on the 28th of March. After that, they will evaluate
the site and make general
access available. THERE IS NO SET DATE FOR THAT TO HAPPEN.
When
they decide to open the site, the information will be posted
at
http://www.lds.org/en/4_News_Update/News_Update-Current.html

So that is the real story about the LDS site, it is coming
online but not for a while.
