I have more info on my Nellie DUNSAFE of Drexel
Hill - somewhat. I called Arlington Cemetery
(thanks for the phone number, everyone) and
learned SOME more information. I now have two
dates of death for her - 1969 (kinship chart
associated with settlement of the estate of a
distant cousin) and July 9, 1965 (date of burial,
Arlington Cemetery records). The address
associated with the owner of the lot is that of
George Dunsafe, her husband - who was buried on
Feb 12, 1958. These two were married some time
before 1938 or 1941, as per the obituary of her
mother who died in either 1938 or 1941.
(Obituary has month and day only, family records
have 1938, cemetery has 1941.) They also lived
in "Drexel Park" by either 1938 or 1941. I'm
sure that's Drexel Hill, the obituary appeared in
a Carlisle paper, and I bet my sometimes vague
grandfather supplied the details! The address
where George and Nellie Dunsafe lived in Drexel
Hill in 1958, when George bought the grave plots,
presumably after his death (the things grief
stricken widows write on forms!) was 459
Irvington Road.

Her mother's obituary gives her name as Dansafe,
though other family obits give it as Dunsafe.
Apparently, Dansafe is wrong. DUNSAFE is a rare
name; George DUNSAFE must have been of the one
DUNSAFE family that lived in Philadelphia earlier
this century which as nearly as I can find out
are the only people named Dunsafe ever to live in
this country.

I'd like very much to find anyone who might
remember Nellie and George Dunsafe. I understand
from that kinship chart assocated with the
cousin's estate that she had no children - and
I'm sure they got THAT right, as the purpose of
the chart was to identify all heirs to the
estate! Until recently, I never knew this sister
of my father's mother existed, and I would like
to learn more about her. I did have good luck
finding people who remember my grandparents from
Carlisle, who died in something like 1947 and
1953. I even found someone who remembered my
great uncle Lawrence Smith, who died in 1925 -
though she was a small child remembering a
childhood doctor! Could anyone tell me of anyone
who lived on or near the 400 block of Irvington
Rd, in Drexel Hill, before 1965 - or anyone who
KNOWS anyone who lived there!

If anyone would like to do any research on these
people for me, I'd very much appreciate it - only
remember, Nellie Moore lived in Dauphin County
until well into her teens, so for example, she
wouldn't be in the local highschool yearbook
where someone looked for her. Also, her family
lived in Philadelphia (5222 Webster St) from
atleast 1908, until atleast 1920, and that
presumably is where she lived when she married,
unless she wasn't yet married when her father
died in 1920 and she and her mother moved
elsewhere at that time. She probably was born
around 1887, estimated from photos of her and my
grandmother as children. She is buried in
Arlington Cemetery - but guess what, they don't
keep records of the dob and dod even though they
go on the gravestone!

I do plan to write to the Delaware County
Historical Society, which has local newspapers,
etc - eventually, as they charge $25 per.

Thanks much,

Yours,
Dora Smith
