John LARKIN3 (Thomas2, John1), probably the son of Thomas LARKIN
and grandson of John LARKIN of Cecil Co., MD, was a single freeman in Lower
Chichester Twp, Chester Co., PA. in 1724 and was progenitor of all the
LARKIN family of Delaware Co., PA.; b: , d:about 1786, m:10-29-1731 at
Christ Church, Philadelphia, PA. Esther SHELLY, dau. of Roger and Elizabeth
(Buzby) SHELLY of Chichester Twp. They were admitted into membership in the
Society of Friends at Concord Monthly Meeting, Concord Twp., Delaware Co.,
PA. 8-8-1744 where he was appointed overseer 3-1-1749. He moved to Bethel
Twp., Delaware Co., PA. about 1750. By his will be devised a tract of 120
acres of land to his son, Joseph LARKIN, and to his son Isaac LARKIN "my
present dwelling plantation in Bethel: containing 180 acres. In a deed made
in 1715 by Ephraim Augustus HERMEN to Thomas LARKIN for 883 acres of land
in Cecil Co., MD, the indenture recites that previous to 8-14-1682, John
LARKIN, father of Thomas LARKIN, had patented that number of acres which
tract was afterward patented to Augustus HERMEN.

Deed. John LARKIN of Ann Arundel cnty, innholder, for a warrant of 1150
acres of land, conveys to Capt Thomas HARWOOD of London, mariner, 750 ares
of lan in Cecil cnty, (formerly in Baltimore cnty) on the east side of
Chesapeake Bay by the land formerly taken up by Richard LEAKE. Lord
Baltimore, by patent dated at St Marys 10 May 1671, granted this land,
called Greenfield, to John LARKIN. Made: 08 Aug 1674. Wit: George HOLLAND,

Release. Ephraim Augustine HERRMAN of Cecil cnty, gent, and Thomas LARKIN
of Ann Arundel cnty, lately had a dispute about a tract of land in Bohemia
River, called Clifton, patented to John LARKIN, father of said Thomas
LARKIN, which included a tract of 883 acres of land called Middle Neck or
Little Bohemia, originally taken up by Augustine HERRMAN, grandfather of
said Ephraim. Because Thomas LARKIN has proved his rights to the land
called Clifton to be prior to the rights of the other and for other
valuable considerations paid, HERRMAN releases to Thomas LARKIN any right
he has to the land. Made: 10 Oct 1715. Wit: M VANDERHEYDEN, Stephen KNIGHT.

Town Proceedings. Libra S K No 6 Commencing 07 Nov 1732. At a session of
assembly held in Annapolis 21 May 1730 was made an act for the laying out
of land to erect a town at a place called Boxens Point on the south side of
Bohemia River in Cecil cnty. On 06 Aug 1730 a meeting of the
Commissioners for laying out the town was held.
Sheriff John BALDWIN makes a return of a warrant to summon a jury
of the most substantial freeholders to appear before the Commissioners on
Monday, 07 Sep next. Said jury is to determine what damages and recompense
they thing fit to award the owner or owners of the 20 acres of land which
will be taken to build Cecil Town. Warrant made 24 Aug 1730. Wit: Ephraim
Augt HERMAN, Alpho COSDON, B PEARCE,, Nichols RIDGLEY.
The jury values the land at œ47.10s
On 17 Sep Commissioners PEARCE, HERMAN, GEORGE, COSDON and KNIGHT
meet to have 20 locust posts set, one at a corner of each lot number 1,2,3,
etc. and have stakes set up to distinguish streets.
