Judy!
You're absolutely right about the Amish and Mennonite ladies. I shop at a
little market that is run by Mennonites, and I just love going there. Yes,
you can see the beauty in everyone who works there...and no makeup!!!! to
lure the heart to them, either.
Speaking of makeup, one time I went to a local TV station to pick up a video
I had ordered from them when our daughter was on one of their shows. As I
approached the building, there was a lady sitting outside, I guess, taking
her break. She was all dressed up in fancy clothes, and had her back toward
me. I hope I didn't offend her, but when she turned around, she scared the
daylights out of me with all the makeup they have to wear as newscasters. I
actually jumped back and yelped a little; I felt like a goof about it, and
quickly went passed her and into the building. She just reminded me of
something out of a freaky movie!!!! I never knew they had to wear that much
makeup on screen!!!!
When I wore makeup, I thought everyone needed a little...now that I don't, I
can actually see the beauty in people who don't...it's really strange how
changing myself, made me look at others differently.
But then I can be strange at times...remember, "I love Lucy"...and am called
"Lucy" by my husband and others at times when I do something out of the
ordinary (which is probably everyday) :o) In fact, a friend just brought a
little palm book by, for me, from Halmark...it's title is: The I Love Lucy
Guide to Life"...wisdom from Lucy and the gang :o) I love it!!!!!
Sorry for bouncing all around...just typed up some early thoughts I had
after reading about Avon, makeup, and the Amish and Mennonite and their
natural beauty...and one thought lead to another :o) Sorry <grin>
Lynn
PS We have those people at farmers' markets selling the Avon, too. And
they do that with Tupperware.
