Dear Cathy,

I have only a little inkling as to what the "8 ball" questions were all
about but for some reason it reminded me of the Ouija (weegie) Board that I
remember sitting around with my mother, grandmother and my aunts back in the
1940s.

We all placed our hands very delicately on the Ouija (a triangle sort of
affair) and one of us would seriously ask a question of it. And as we saw
the Ouija mysteriously go from one letter of the alphabet to the other on
the board, we were all breathless to see if it would really spell out an
answer to the question.

Sometimes it did and sometimes it didn't. But whenever it did seem to give
the answer that one of us was hoping for, all of us were suspicious that one
of us was guiding the Ouija deliberately. We never really believed in the
"spirit" of the Ouija, but nonetheless, it was fun to contemplate such a a
mystical experience.
