Subject: [PD-LIFE] Have a Question?
Date: Sun, 2 Mar 2003 15:06:53 EST
Hello Group - I just found this site via a "cousin" from another board. I
have a question about something my grandmother always said that I have been
unable to document anywhere else. She ( Cora Belle Gleason Moore b 1864 in
Tioga PA) always told me I was a "throwback" because I was born with dark
eyes, curly hair and dark complexion in a family of blondes or light brown
hair. She said she was "Pennsylvania Black Dutch" and I looked just like her
grandfather! I have a fairly good decendancy chart for the Gleasons -
Starting with Thomas in Mass down to Nelson and Abner who came to PA and her
father , John, who eventually moved to KS where she met and married my
ggrandfather, Abraham Lincoln Moore (Sample Robert, John, John). Her mother
was Susannah/Susan Kizer and for this line I have found nothing, nada, zilch.
So, my question, what is Pennsylvania Black Dutch as opposed to just plain
Pennsylvania Dutch and where did she get this as I can find nothing in the
Gleason line regarding this. Am new to the list and fairly new to this
"search for dead people" my granddaughter told her mother I was "doing".
Thanks for listening and anxious for any help. Joyce
