Thanks for the response. I am trying to trace down the ancestry of my
grandfather, Harry A. White. His mother and father were never married, and
according to his original social security application, his mothers name was
Iva Jane Greenawalt and Joseph R. White (LeBlanc?).
Joseph R. White (LeBlanc) was supposed to be of French-Canadian and Native
American ancestry, he worked as a lumberjack. According to the story my
grandmother told me, Joseph R. White died as a result of a fight (he was
stabbed) with Harry's uncle in a boarding house. Harry was a young child when
this happened, sitting in a high chair at the table, he was a witness to this
incident. This is the story that my grandmother told me about my grandfather
and his parents.
Iva Jane Greenawalt eventually married a Charles Smith, and I believe that
after the stabbing incident she moved away, to Cincinnati Ohio.
Again thanks for the response.
Terry
