I don't know how many of you are Winslow descendents, but there was a very interesting article in the DuBois Courier Express yesterday about the efforts of one Kathy Myers to save the "Winslow House" in Benezette. Apparently, this house was built between 1850 and 1860 by George Wait Winslow, a son of Carpenter Winslow, Jr.

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy bought the land as elk habitat and was going to tear the house down. To make a long story short, a committee was formed and plans are being made to move the house to another location in Benezette and possibly turning it into a visitor's center or gift shop.

Since the PGC seems intent on turning Benezette into an elk tourist attraction, something like this would be very welcome down in that area. Unfortunately, there is no contact information for anyone affiliated with this project in the article.

If there is enough interest from those on this list, I could scan the article and post it online.

Waiting for Spring,
Sherry Bish Jesberger
