Robert L. Zimmerman, 78, of 67 Luray Drive, Ridgway,
died Friday at his residence.

He was born November 4, 1926, in Hallton, son of the
late George W. and Geraldine Dobson Zimmerman.

On September 11, 1948, he married Marjorie Rhines, who
survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Robert L. Zimmerman II of
Brockway, Kirk A.J. Zimmerman of St. Marys; a
grandson, Matthew Kirk Zimmerman of St. Marys; two
brothers, Jerry Zimmerman and his wife, Mary Ann, of
Kersey, Emerson Zimmerman of Ridgway; a sister, Sharon
(Mrs. George) Jerko of St. Marys; and numerous nieces
and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by a brother, Paul Zimmerman.

Mr. Zimmerman had resided in Ridgway for most of his
life and attended Ridgway High School. He was a Civil
War buff and enjoyed reading. He was the chairman of
the French fry booth at the Ridgway Fireman's Carnival
for many years. He enjoyed reminiscing with friends
and family. He had been employed at the Elliott
Company and Motion Control. He served in the Merchant
Marines, the U.S. Coast Guard and was a veteran of
WWII.

There will be no visitation.

A Memorial Service for Robert Zimmerman will be held
Saturday, April 2, 2005 in the Trinity United
Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. David
Roddy, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in
Donahey Hill Cemetery. Military honors will be
accorded by the Ridgway Military Honor Detail.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the
Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be
made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 19 South
Broad Street, Ridgway 15853; Moorehead United
Methodist Church, 335 Main Street, Brockway 15824; or
to St. Marys Christian and Missionary Alliance Church,
151 Laurel Lane, Kersey 15846.
