Ruben Martino, 89, of 15 Fremont Ave., died Sunday,
March 27, at Elk Regional Health Center, following a
lengthy illness.

He was born Sept. 15, 1915, in Troia Province of
Oggia, Italy, the son of Luigi and Concetta Caccio
Martino.

On March 5, 1977, he married Margaret Capuano, who
survives.

Upon arriving in America, he resided for several years
in Brockway before moving to Ridgway, where he resided
for 70 years. He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic
Church and a life member of both the SOI and the
Moose. He played in the Elk Capital Band. He enjoyed
woodworking and making fine wine.

Mr. Martino was a longtime caretaker and gravedigger
at St. Leo's Cemetery. He had also been employed at
the Elk Tannery, the Elliot Co., and Ridgway Color and
Chemical Co., where he retired.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three
children, Mrs. Harry (Concilia) Trievel of St.
Petersburg, Fla.; Mrs. Burton (Joanne) Shaver of
Ridgway; and Carmen Martino of Ridgway; eight
grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a
great-great-grandson; a brother, Dominic Martino of
Brockway; and two sisters, Natalie Mascaro of
Johnsonburg and Christine Stowman of Brockway.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his
first wife, Virginia Vecchiarello Martino; and by two
brothers, Leonard and Anthony Martino.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruben Martino will be
celebrated at St. Leo's Catholic Church on Saturday at
10 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Theodore B. Marconi,
pastor. Interment will be in St. Leo's Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Meehan-Shilk Funeral
Home Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Leo's Memorial
Fund, 111 Depot St., Ridgway, PA 15853.
