Katherine Kristine "Cookie" Pearson, 51, of 132 Little
Egypt Road, Seneca, died Thursday, September 22, 2005
at UPMC Northwest in Oil City.
She was born September 16, 1954, in Oil City, daughter
of Dorothy Fischer Pearson, of Seneca, and the late
George R. Pearson.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a
brother, Clark Pearson and his wife, Anne, of St.
Marys; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ms. Pearson was a 1972 graduate of Cranberry High
School, then graduated from Clarion University in 1976
and received her master’s degree as a reading
specialist from Slippery Rock University. She taught
in the Cranberry School District for nearly 30 years.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she
taught Sunday school, was active in the choir, was a
member of council and was involved in the student
tutoring program. She was honored by the National
Honor Society as a teacher, was a member of the
Pennsylvania State Education Association and the
International Reading Association. She dedicated her
adult life to teaching youth. She enjoyed Bridge, 500,
reading and traveling, especially Myrtle Beach.
Funeral services for Katherine Kristine "Cookie"
Pearson will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Good
Hope Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Sharon Hilfiger,
pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, and Rev. Philip
Scherr, pastor of Good Hope Lutheran Church,
officiating. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at an Oil City-based funeral
home tonight and Saturday. Memorial contributions may
be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 207 State Street, Oil
City 16301; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
