Kathy,

I like the format recommended by the Silicon Valley [CA] PAF Users Group in
their 1993 Documentation Guidelines publication. They give examples of
three formats, one for Census Registry, one for Census Index and one for
Census Soundex as follows:

Census-Registry:
!CENSUS: 1900 U.S. Census, Santa Clara Co. CA; 1900; Vol 45, E.D. 54 Sheet
17; Line 2; Federal Archives, San Bruno CA, T1032 Roll 85; NOTE: Age 27,
owns home, came to U.S.1882.

Census-Index:
!RESIDENCE: Index, 1830 Fed Census, Johnson Co IA; 1830; Salt Lake City,
Accelerated Indexing Systems; p 25; Public Library, Santa Clara CA.

Census-Soundex:
!RESIDENCE-BIRTH: 1910 TN Census Soundex; 1910; Vol. 3, E.D. 128 Sheet 7;
Line 4; Federal Archives, Chicago IL; NOTE: Age 37, born England, living in
Hawkins Co.

I especially like the "NOTE" feature suggested within the text as you can
enter the entire family or whatever you choose to add from the census
finding such as other members of family etc. I should add that I am still
using PAF 2.31 and haven't changed over to PAF 3 or PAF 4 as yet, but the
above format works fine in 2.31. I'm hoping it will work in the Notes
section of later editions of PAF also.
