Subject: [PAF-5] How do I split off one line from a large pedigree?
Date: Fri, 10 Jan 2003 12:31:59 -0700

I was recently presented with a problem at our local FHC when a patron wished to split off one line (her maternal great-grandfather's ancestry) and still include the ancestral sibling marriages and children - and a few generations of their descendants, which she had added. Using the Partial selection function, plus selecting Ancestors, got just that - ancestors and their kids only. No sibling marriages - no sibling descendants.

Using the All Ancestral Related selection filter got basically everyone in the whole file - also not what she wanted. Is there any way to split off one branch of the pedigree and still keep all the twigs?

The only way I was able to do it was to make a "roadmap" of the families that she wanted to be included and after selecting "Ancestors", going back and family by family selecting the sibling marriages and descendants, which was very time consuming. There must be a faster way.

Thanks,
Varlajw
