The PAF for Palm is basically the earlier version of Gedstar (when it was
named GedPalm) and will only work with PAF files. GedStar has additional
features which have been added in later versions and will work with any
gedcom 5.5 file in ANSEL or ANSI format. If one does not want or need the
added features and does not use multiple genealogy programs then the free
program is certainly a fine choice.
