Hi:
You might consider, when you have all the Chapman data and Thomas data
cleaned out, combine them and make a third file file with
both of them joined, and when you are satisfied you have everything the
way you want it, then you can delete the other two. You could
maintain the three of them, but that can be a problem when you update
one or the other, but you are better off keeping them separate
until you are sure you want to join them. Just make a gedcom of each,
and create a new file which contains both those gedcoms. If
you keep track of the number of RINs in each file you can easily jump to
the other by using that number later. The only problem you
could run into is if you have common ancestors in the two files, and you
merge those but that would be easy to keep track of.
