Yes, the Silicon Valley Guidelines to Documentation is a fabulous source, but maybe these people have forgotten that there is even a simpler, very clear guide for "Notes and Sources" right in your PAF software. Go to "help", pull down the menu, and click on "Lessons" - "Notes and Sources" is the third topic. I printed that portion out long ago and wouldn't be without it each time I sit down to add individuals to my database.

I think the problem with separating Sources and Notes may come in when people who used the older versions of PAF don't want to change their habits, as I believe the older versions didn't use Sources, but instead, put everything into Notes. Now, naturally, they are reluctant to redo their longstanding files - can't say that I blame them - but they may be confusing the newer generation of PAF users.
