Half way between Echard and Fayette City along old Route 7-11. Apporx two
to three miles sw of Perryopolis. Site of first consolidated school. Also
a place for good picnics. Somewhere close was a slate dump glowing with
blue flame at night, from which red dog was obtained for the backroad.
Also used by the coal pickers during the depression to obtain coal for
the homes. The extra was sold. In the 1930's there was a gasoline station
at the intersection of the road to Perryopolis and 7-11 know as the Red
Lion Inn. Can't re,ember the brand of gasoline that was sold. Grant
