Zip-a-doo-dee! Zip-a-dee-ay!
I had a wonderful day yesterday!

I wonder if it was because for the first time in my genealogy study, I said
a little prayer to St. Anthony to help me find my missing BISHOPS and
CARROLLS! Catholics know he specializes in helping them find things!

Anyhow, trying the 1900 Soundex & Census at the Library of Michigan in
Lansing, I found my BISHOPS and Roy CARROLL all living with their mother
under the same roof in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, PA. Remember, I said
their father said he was a resident of Fayette County, PA when he married my
husband's grandmother in WV in 1888? Well, now I know which Wm married
which Mary and were living as newlyweds in Wharton Twp, Fayette Co, PA in
the 1880 census. In 1900 I also found his brother with an earlier wife than
I had and their two daughters living in Wharton Twp. William probably
stayed with them before returning to WV.

Had William divorced Mary beforehand? Did he share this information with
his 2nd wife? Who knows?

Anyway, in 1900 Mary had with her her two sons including Roy BISHOP and
William BISHOP and daughter, Zella, with her husband, 5 month old son, and
10 roomers! Talk about hitting the jackpot! (By the way, the roomers were:
Frank NELSON(WILSON?), Charles MCKENNY, Joe ARMEL?, Grant SAVAGE, Elmer
MOOR?, Deed? TENNIE, Edith JOHNSON, Agnes CAVERN, Clara HOUSSMAN, and James
MCGINNIS. Sorry, the microfilm was difficult to read and did not print out
plainly. Thank goodness, I got the family names and data I needed from
their Soundex card! The others were probably listed separately on their own
cards.

Has anyone had experience getting marriage, birth, and death records from
Allegheny County starting around 1800ff? When I had written to Fayette
County for such, I was told they did not have records back that far. I hope
Pittsburgh or the state has. Does anyone know?

Thanks again to those of you who e-mailed me with your suggestions!

BJ
