Thank you , Kathleen, for responding to my BOWELL/CRACRAFT/ SPRINGER query.

I mentioned finding the probate records for William Bowell in Hampshire
Co., WV. I found them on film #186352 (Taxation, Hampshire Co., WV) which I
ordered from the FHC in Salt Lake. I couldn't find Bowell listed in the
alphabetical index, but since I had read that William died abt. 1772, I
went chronologically and found the following:
"Env. 8, County Court, Hampshire Co., 1772
Re: Howell, Ann
Howell, Bazell, Admr.
Howell, Wm., Dec.
Estate Settlement"
The names on the document are very plainly Bowell not Howell. Someone
copied to the index card incorrectly.

The copy of the actual document is very poor! The pen scratching in some
instances illegible. I interpreted item #7 as "Ditto paid jadeh ---inger
his wifes part as a child of the intestate deceased - 20-1" I sent copies
of the document & my interpretation to two other Bowell researchers, and
Leta Hudson in FL sent hers back showing me that the first letter of the
last name was an S and that by holding the paper up to the light you could
see that jadeh was actually Zadok. That along with the location of the
graves, land grants, and the fact that the two Bowell brothers and Zadok
were listed as witnesses, administrators, sureties, and tax assessors
together over & over again led me to the conclusion that he was their
brother-in-law.

I have gone into this long explanation because, beside being natural long
winded, I thought you might like to check the information for yourself
before concluding that Mary Bowell was Zadok Springers's wife. If you don't
want to order the film, I would be glad to send you a copy of the probate
record. By the way, did Zadok and his Mary have any offspring?

Thanks again, Burna K. Jamieson
