Hello,
I am new to this mailing list and would like to post my surname I am
researching and a query. I am tracing my ancestor Freadrick SAUPE b. 1813
who emigrated from Saxony and his wife Emma (Mueller) SAUPE b. 1820 who had
a daughter Mary b. 1840 and daughter Julie b. 1842. Freadrick SAUPE is
listed on the 1840 Federal Census living in Brownsville, Fayette Co, PA. I
was hoping that if someone had some local historical books in their
possession they would be kind enough to see if the SAUPE surname is listed.
Sometimes it is misspelled as SOUPE. Freadrick was a saddler and
harnessmaker.
Are there local history books published for Brownsville? Was there a group
of German settlers that came from Saxony in the 1835-1840 timeframe?
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Ann Bessette
