Here is a continuing series of the 1880 census for Georges township, Fayette
county; Supervisor District #8; ED #4, taken by C.W. Richards. It starts
with page 191 and will eventually continue thru to 224.
The following abbreviations apply: w/b = race (white or black); m/f =
male/female; Relat. dau=daughter, gs/gd=grandson or granddaughter;
sd/ss=stepdau/stepson; s/m/b-i-l=sister/mother/brother in law etc.; illig =
illigitimate; m/s/w/d/p=married/single/widowed/divorced/parted; x's are for
attended school/ couldn't read / & couldn't write. Anything with an @ sign
beside it means that I have verified that it is truly what the enumerator
placed on the page.

I have changed to comma separated text to save time. I have tried my best to
be accurate, but some names on the sheet were blurred, the microfilm had some
dirt, and there were sections that were badly stained. If anyone recognizes
any mistakes, please let me know & I'll correct them. Occassionally the
enumerator went a bit crazy on ditto marks, especially in the area where
birthplaces are listed. I have great suspicions that many of these were
wrong because of this. I have finished Georges township, I'm working on
German township, and plan to do Nicholson & Springhill townships. After that
I'm out of time. Hopefully someone else can pick up the ball & go with it.

Researching in Fayette county (in order of occurrance): Provance, Britt,
Crow, Coleman, Wood, Yardley, Miller, Shoaf, Bowell, Brown, Davis, Greenlee,
Daniels, Ross, Dils, McCann, Hartley, Hill, Lloyd, Ramsey, Getzendanner,
Huhn, Bowell, Yard & Kyle, and a few other minor names. My mother is a
Provance born & bred in Smithfield & her parents were William "Minor"
Provance & Mary Margaret Britt.
