Hi, Meg and All,
I purchased a reprint of James Hadden's "A History of Uniontown, the
County Seat of Fayette County, Pennsylvania" from the Uniontown
Library's PA Room a couple years ago. I hope that it is still available
there. The Library contact info. is:
Ms. Victoria Leonelli, Curator
The Pennsylvania Room
The Uniontown Public Library
24 Jefferson Street
Uniontown, Pennsylvania 15401
Phone: 724-437-1165

Inside the book, it says that this repro. was done through the
sponsorship of the Connellsville Area Historical Society, Inc. Their
address is: 275 S. Pittsburgh Street, Connellsville, PA 15425. Their
price was $45.00 plus 6% tax and $5.00 postage. They are the ones
responsible for the every name index!

They also sell Ellis' History of Fayette, the 1872 Atlas of Fayette, a
Centennial History of Connellsville, and a book of cem. listings for
Chestnut Hill and Hill Grove in Connellsville.

If not otherwise available, the reprint was done by Whipporwill
Publications, 4400 Jackson Ave., Evansville, IN 47715.

You mentioned an interest in McCoy. Hadden writes on p. 253: " In deed
book D, page 295 is recorded an article of agreement bearing date of
March 12, 1789, between Joseph Tomleston and William McCoy by which
Tomleston allows McCoy to remove the logs already cut for the
construction of the Baptist meeting house, by the first of April next.
James McCoy had taken up the tract of land adjoining the Henry Beeson
tract on the south, and having descended to William McCoy who sold to
Joseph Tomleston, McCoy reserved the right to removed the timber already
cut for the construction of the meeting house. This article of
agreement evidently fixes the date of the erection of the first house of
worship on this lot."

Regards,
Jane
