I'm confused, again! I have Conrad, s/o George Franks & Abigail Smith as
being born in 1869.....if George died in 1821, this is a problem.
I must have something wrong.

<< Susan,

My documentation of Abigail Smith as a daughter of Philip Smith comes from a
secondary source: "THE MICHAEL FRANKS FAMILY HISTORY AND GENEALOGY (Six
Generations)" by Mrs. Harley A. Franks and Donald Sublette which I found in
the Genealogy Department, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Salt
Lake City:

County, PA m ca 1783 Abigail Smith (Abolona Schmidt) dau Philip

Page 62 - George Franks

Geo. was the executor of his brother-in-law's estate - Geo. Shmith (sic) Aug
19, 1801....

George married Abigail Smith, undoubtedly christened as Abolona Schmidt (dau
of Philip who is said to have been "In Sandusky Expedition with Michael
Franks." Michael was George Franks' uncle. Philip has the distinction of
having a picture of his gravestone featured in the compiled "Wayne County
Ohio Burial Records" 1975.)

So I have no "hard proof" that this Abigail Smith was the daughter of Philip
and Barbara Markley. Perhaps some Smith cousins can provide primary sources
of proof.
