Alison in Phoenix asks about the <<< "Horn Books"(Vol. 1-3). I'm not
sure if I have that spelled right but she mentioned that Volumes 1-2 are
all script but Volume 3 has all the Fayette County land and early land
plots......early as in original landowners>>>>>>>>>
Allison is referring to:
The Horn Papers, Early Westward Movement on the Monongahela and Upper
Ohio River, by W. F. Horn. Some major libraries have copies. If memory
serves the three volumes were published by a western Pennsylvania
genealogical society. Several scholars have trashed the first two
volumes, but I can testify that they are very helpful in gaining an
understanding of the early days of what is now western Pennsylvnia. And
this insight was not available to me from any other source. I am sure
that someone on the Horn list - see e-mail address above - will be able
to help you find a copy. It will be worth the trouble- believe me.
