Hi, Joecan,
Now that is really an interesting coincidence!
I saw the Zebley name in the 1850 census today for UnionTwp. and thought,
"That's an old name
that has been around awhile and yet I've not heard it mentioned in a long
time!!!"
I do have a distant connection in a branch of my Jones tree where there's a
Jobes marriage, so here's the
very indirect Zebley connection:
Eleanor Jean JOBES dau. of Elmer Ray Jobes (1902-1961) and
Margaret Lowery (1903-1978)
+Warren (Dan) ZEBLEY b: April 09, 1912 d: August
07, 1973
In the 1850 census there were two Fayette Zebley "families" and one in
Somerset, headed by an Eliza .
Samuel Zebley 38 was a stage driver in Union Twp., likely Uniontown; and
his family consisted of:
Ellizabeth 41 and Sarah 1, and also Rachel Zebley 79; all born in PA.
Jackson Zebley 22 was working as a farmer and he was enumerated with the
household of Robert Rankin in Dunbar Twp
on the 17th of September and he appears also in the household of James
Rankin in Dunbar Twp. Aug. 22 as a farmer.
I see that there are many Zebleys listed in the Yaniga and Yanik cem.book:
"Cemeteries of Fayette Co. PA volume #1"
which is available from Closson Press.
Best Regards,
Jane
