WILLIAM FERRIS, FORMER SLAVE DIES

William Ferris, colored, 85 years old, died Thursday morning at the home

of his niece, Mrs. Belle Worthington at Dunbar. He was the last colored

man residing about Dunbar who had been a slave in his younger days. He
was a slave for 31 years. Funeral services will be tomorrow afternoon
at 2 o'clock with Rev. M. F. Simms of Connellsville officiating.

MRS. HANNAH COLE DIES

Mrs. Hannah cole, 76 years old, whose husband, thomas Cole, was killed
34 years ago in an explosion at Youngstown, died this morning at Percy
. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 o'clock from the Percy church.
