George Meason, again-Know Peter Mills Strayer; never heard his
character for truth questioned....
R.S. Barry, sworn-Never heard Strayer's character for truth questioned
before his arrest; have been engaged in staging business.......
John Keefer, again-Have known Strayer from his youth; know Corman;
have heard the drivers call him a liar; he was not discharged by
Mr. Stockton.
Alfred McClelland, again-Have known Strayer never hear his character
called in question.
Ellis Bailey, sworn-Was born and raised in Uniontown; never heard
his character called in question.
H.H. Beeson, again-Know P. Mills Strayer; never heard his character
assailed On the night after the arrest he said he had put ashes in
the privy, by Dr. Braddee's orders. The market house is about 20 feet
wide, 50 feet from the corner of the market house is Hallam's store;
the market house is 60 or 70 feet. The market house is 10 or 12 feet
from Stewart's row; you cross Main and Cedar streets before you get
to the tilt hammer; Morgantown street is frequented not so much as Main.
John P. Sturgis, again-Known Strayer; never heard his character
called in question;...
Hon. Samuel Nixon, sworn-Live six miles from Uniontown; know
James Owens; know his general character for truth, can't say that
it is good.
William. Nixon, Sen. sworn-Live four miles from Uniontown; have
known Owens four years; his general character for truth not good.
Isaac Nixon, sworn-Have known James Owens four or five years;
his general character for truth not good; from his general character
for truth I would not believe him on oath.
John C. Bachus, sworn-Owen's character for truth not good.
George Reigart, sworn-Reside in Fayette county; know William Collins;
have known him three years; live a mile and a half from wehre I do;
his general character for truth is bad.
John J. Williams, Esq. sworn-Collins' general character for truth is day;
I reside 1-2 miles off; am Justice of the Peace; would not believe him
on oath
James McKean sworn-
Col. Raddick, sworn- I had been getting some marketing from
Mrs. Collins; she did not want money. After the Doctor was arrested,
she said, they have taken him, and she was destitute, and she
wanted the balance.
William Waggoner, again-Went to Evansville two weeks ago; called
on Costello to know if he had got the money from Braddee; he had
paid it to Tutt 30 minutes before,
J.Howell Phillips, again-The old privy was thrown out of the lot, and
is now in the street, given by Dr. Braddee; it was filed with ashes.
Henry Holly, again-I did state that I had been told to throw them in the
old privy; the Doctor told me to do so.
