Miss Jane
Thanks for the reply.
I wish I knew more about the Lewis's, but I don't.
All we know is that he was born in N.J., but they could have left there when
he was a baby.
I do know that these people did not travel alone and probably many relatives
were together.
I have data where there were many, many Lewis's in the Fayette//Greene &
Washington Co, PA area around 1800 with many birth taking place there too,
but cannot connect a one to my Aron!
Do you know the abt. birth & death dates of your Margaret and Abel?
Do you have any information you can send me so I can research that Welch
Tract in Deleware? Urls, places, anything.
They had an older daughter that was 0-10 in the 1800 census, and she did not
make it to Ohio with them. We think she must have come of age and married
and stayed behind, or if they travelled to Ohio, we do not have a married
name to research.
Their other children are Rebecca b. 1804, Prudence b. 1807 and Samuel b.
1810. These were born in Ohio County, W. VA.
We had been researching to find Samuel's because he was the only boy born to
them (that we know) and are supposing he is Aaron Samuel Lewis, and that our
OLD AARON's father 's name was Samuel., but then that is not always the case
either. Anyway, we have had no luck.
We have researched all over the North East from the coast to the Ohio border,
taking in all of VA, N.C. in research, to no avail. New Jersey is one hard
state to search. They did not record their marriage in N.J., so am
supposing they probably married someplace in PA.
They were living in Ohio County, VA, now West VA 1812-14, as he was in the
military., but before 1800, we cannot find a trace of them.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I live in Alabama and no longer
travel except for maybe 50 mile radius. Too hard on the bones. <G>
Mary
