Thanks, Dawne,
I was wondering if anybody might have run across any deed or will info
concerning the mysterious Peter and William Cornells? Maybe they were
brothers?
Joe Cornell in WA
Joe,
I have a some information the probably corresponds with this William Cornell
of Fayette Co. PA and would like to know more. Given the ages, could Peter
be William's father?
Starting with:
Mar 13, 1785, Cornell, William and Miller, Catharine, Amwell.
Apr 5, 1787, Yoagley, Andrew and Davis, Sarah, Amwell
>From the Marriages of Rev. William Frazier at St Andrew's Church,
Lambertville, NJ. I think was published by the Hunterdon Co. His. Soc.
The document that connects these lines and Fayette Co PA with Hunterdon Co NJ
is an 1823 Power of Attorney relating to the death of Agness Miller of
Hunterdon Co. NJ.
Hunterdon County, New Jersey Deed Abstracts
Volume I of Special Deeds
pg 382 Power of attorney dated 4 SEP 1823 from Andrew Jakle*, John Miller,
Thomas Matthews, Margaret Miller (late Miller), Peter Miller Jr, Miller
Cornell, William Cornell, John Cornell, James Todd and Mary his wife (late
Cornell) and Jonathan Dur of Fayette Co. Uniontown, Pa. to Peter Miller Sr.
to receive all sums from John Bake, adm'r of Agnys Miller, late of New
Jersey, dec'd. Peter Miller Sr. then gives power of attorney to James Todd
on 20 Nov. 1823. Wit: Thomas Haddens no date of recording
pg 384 Power of attorney dated 20 Nov 1823 from Peter Miller Sr. to James
Todd to receive his share of the estate of Agnes Miller dec'd. Wit. Thomas
Haddens. No date of recording
Abstracted in "Some Records of Old Hunterdon Co. by Phyllis B. d'Autrechy" pg
33.
*Andrew Yeagley (aka Yoagley/Jackle/Jakel/Jakle) and Sarah Miller are listed
at the the parents of the Yeagley son who married Phoebe Lincoln in Fayette
Co. according to the Linclon genealogy book. Also in Andrew Jackle's will
Sarah's name is spelled Jakle and his childern are listed as Yagley. It is a
German name thing. Sarah apparently married a Davis first then Andrew
Yeagley later on before they came to Fayette County. Andrew is last taxed in
NJ in 1789.
Peter Miller Jr., John Miller and Margaret Miller-Matthews are the children
of Andrew Miller dec'd in 1794 in Fayette Co.
I am searching for any information on these families who came from New
Jersey. All these families came to Fayette about the same time. We know
when Peter Miller Sr. came to Fayette County (April of 1790) from the Quaker
records of his wife.
Any back ground on the Cornells esp. in NJ is much appreciated. There is a
good bit on the Duer line of which Jonathan represents his mother - John Duer
and Susannah Miller-Duer/Dure/Durr/etc. Also in the Agness Miller Letters of
Adminstration, Joseph Bonnell was the suggorgate and Daniel Ent Sr and Neal
Hart were Security.
