William R. "Bill" SMILEY, 81, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Wednesday,
February 25, 2004 in Beverly HealthCare Center, Uniontown.

He was born August 5, 1922 in Georges Township, Fayette County, Pa., the
son of Arthur (Dewey) Smiley and Ruth SIBERT SMILEY.

He graduated from Uniontown High School, Class of 1940, and had attended
Ohio University.

"Bill" served with the United States Army 8th Air Corps in the European
Theatre during World War II, was a Pilot on a B-24 Bomber and flew 30
combat missions over Europe.

He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church, former pilot for American
Airlines, and retired from West Penn Power after 20 years of service on
the Line Crew.

His son, William R. Smiley Jr., a sister, Cora Smiley, and parents
preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Dolores McDonaugh Smiley; a daughter,
Carol Edenfield and husband Alfred of Cedar Park, Texas; one grandson,
Robert Pearson of Cedar Park, Texas; his aunt, Velma Springer of
Uniontown, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Ann Knoyer of Wheeling, West Virginia;
and several cousins, nephews and nieces.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME
INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., where Friends were received
Sunday, February 29, from Noon to 2 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Visitation will continue today, Monday, March 1, from 10 until 11 a.m.
when the Service will be officiated by the Rev. William D. Rodahaver.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, where Full
Military Rites will be accorded at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Parkinson's
Foundation Center of Excellence, University of Pittsburgh, Department of
Neurology, 3471 Fifth Avenue, Suite 811 Kaufman Building, Pittsburgh, PA
15213.
