This is a resend as I haven't seen it in the digest.

I have at least 2 family members buried in a Scotdale cemetery. Could
you
tell me if there are one or several cemeteries here. The family was
Catholic, so that would probably narrow it. Also, where can I find the
records, if any? Thank you.

Hi Lorrie and welcome to the list!

I was born in Scottdale and then grew up just across Jacob's Creek in
South Everson.
Scottdale is the last town in Westmoreland Co and Everson/South Everson
is the first town in Fayette Co. (Jacob's Creek is the dividing line.) I
can answer questions about this part of the Fay-West area.

St. John the Baptist is the name of the Catholic Church in Scottdale and
the Cemetery is usually called St. John's. The rectory is located on
Broadway and about 20 years ago the priest was helping me locate the site
of my great-grandparents' unmarked grave when he died of a heart attack.
Things were hectic at the time and I gave up trying to find their graves
after his death, but perhaps the new priest would be willing to help you.
His name is Father Emil Payer (never met him) address: St. John the
Baptist Rectory
504 S. Broadway, Scottdale, PA 15683 phone: 724-887-9550 fax:
724-887-9553.

Hope this helps!
