Vi Poland,
My John Graham probably did not come to America from
Ireland, until about 1803. He took his initial
naturalization papers in Fayette County, PA and final
naturalization papers some time later in Highland County,
OH. There were at least 3 brothers that came to Highland
County, in the pre-1820 time frame, and Robert left a will
naming a sister still back in Ireland. My John's wife (land
records) was a Jane, married before they came to America,
where their daughter, Eliza Graham Walker became my 2-great
grandmother (and I have a picture of her).
John Graham appears to be a very common name, and one such
John Graham was an early surveyor of southern Ohio
lands---many records for him. I don't see a connection for
our 2 John Grahams, but think we need to be aware of each
other's John Graham in Fayette. Except for wife's name and
perhaps yours being a little older, I don't see any other
real distinguishing characteristics between the two---unless
you know of something I have missed?
The GLOVER (1750's of Morris County, NJ) name, as well as
FROST and GREEN are all connected to me, via direct descent.
I mentioned earlier the BEVANS connection, and the surname
SMILEY is connected to my CRISSMAN family that came out of
what is now Huntingdon and Blair Counties, PA. Both the
Grahams and Frosts are buried at Dun's Chapel in Highland
County, both families migrating from Fayette County, PA.
I will copy to the Fayette List, as some one else might wish
to jump in on these names?
