I found the Orphan's Court records extremely useful. Children were often
listed if EITHER parent died. The records go back prior to 1820, but I'm not
sure how far. Be sure to look in the index for a number of years after a
death. There was usually an entry when the last minor child reached maturity.
I think they are better than the guardianship records, but check those too.
