Boy, am I having trouble getting this message through. Don't know what I'm
doing! Anyway, this conversation is very interesting. My CROOKS family, John
and Elizabeth, left Shippensburg, PA in 1834 and went to Stark Co. OH. I've
always wondered if they travelled with other families. Does anyone else have
families who went to Massillon, Stark Co. OH in the 1830's or so, from the
Franklin/Cumberland area of PA? I think the Ohio- Erie Canal which ran through
Massillon was the attraction. Their son, Jonathan Crooks was a boatman in 1850,
probably on the canal. Their daughter, Elizabeth Crooks, was nine years old
when the moved. She was born in Shippensburg, PA in 1825.
