There were two Hamman/Hammond families in Franklin County. One was here early and the other came c1834. The interesting part is that they used many of the same given names for the men. Here are all the Hammonds (of several spellings) that I found in the 1850 census of Franklin.
[Note: I am working on the line of Jacob (Johan Jacob) Hammond (1794 Franklin-1862 Canton, Stark Co, OH), son of Martin Hammond and Margaret Brindle, who married Catherine Shearer, (1802 Franklin Co, PA-1888 Stark Co, OH) daughter of Jacob Shearer and Maria Barbara Elizabeth Bossart.
