Hello Fred and Researchers,

This may be one of the messages that I did plan to check the Scotch-Irish Cd
for and didn't. I did take a look today at the Scotch-Irish CD. It has been
so long since I began this research that I forget what information that I
have given out and what I haven't, so bear with me if any of this is a
repeat. I have it listed that someone is interested in the Boyd Family,
especially Robert and John. What I found today ties into a 7 page report on
Boyd family in PA. The title of the chapter is Boyd of Derry Co., PA, PA
Genealogies. I would be glad to copy and paste the pages to an attachment
for anyone who is interested in more information than what I am writing here
Please be sure to specify that it was on the Scotch-Irish cd. Another name
which may be of interest to someone is Catherine Shaefer, who married into
this family. I think I dropped the ball on the Schaefer/Shafer research too.
Only so many hours in the day. :-) There are so many interesting lines and
so little time. :-)

I was not very lucky at finding your Alexander and Sarah Baird, though I
also checked the MD, NC marriage cd. Since you said they were in Washington
Co., N.C. at some point, I thought maybe I could find descendants or
something. Washington Co., NC consisted of one name and it wasn't Baird. I
also checked the MD with no luck either.

I have no idea whether marriages to Indians are on this Scotch-Irish CD.
Probably are though. :-)

There is a report on the Scotch-Irish CD about William Boyd family. One of
the people mentioned is a Mary Boyd b. 1768 who married William Baird. She
was born in Derry Twp, Lancaster Co., PA; died 1866 West Hanover, Dauphin Co
, PA. Children are:
James b. 1794
Joseph Boyd Baird b. Oct. 1796 married Mary Todd
William b. 1798 m. First Name Unknown McNair
Elizabeth b. 1800
John b. 1802
Wallace b. 1804 d. Sept. 2, 1858 married Martha Todd

Other places on the Scotch-Irish CD lists a Thomas Baird as a Worchester
Settler in 1718-1719; also as Tithable 1781, Augusta Co., VA. He was also
listed as an executor or participant in an Augusta Co. will.

That is all that I see for now. Am I right in thinking that I checked the PA
CDs for Baird?

I sent this message some time ago,but it finally returned as
UNDELIVERABLE;I wondered why no one responded.so now I will try it again.
I had responded to a message from Joyce and said what a wonderful
knowledgeable group of people.
I thenasked the question again: saying that I was convinced that my gt.gt
grandfather ALEXANDER BAIRD was scotch -irish probably the son of Thomas
baird son of John who came to Cumberland co abt 1747 ( thomas) and had a
son Alexander bn 1750 md a wife named SARAH
probably in Cumberland co.Then served in Rev. war 1776-77 from Cumberland
Co and discharged there. Then moved to Washington co NC(tn)
abt. 1782.His commanding officers were Andrew Galbreath and Col.
Frederick WATT. from Cumberland Co. Pa.I wondered where I might find a
marr. record for Alexander and Sarah.and wondered if there were marriages
by the Scotch -irishmen to Indian Woman.
Just wondering hope some one can give me some ideas.
Thank you
Fred baird
