The courthouse will give you no help at all, since they are record keepers
and not researchers. They will show you where to look and that's it (you're
lucky if they do that much!!). I, personally, have heard that the older
records are down in the basement, and if you go there you are strictly on
your own. This info was from an old time researcher from my area. I've
only done wills and deeds at the courthouse, and rely on obituary's, church
records, headstones and the like for dates of birth and death. This is why
the historical societies and libraries are so used in this area for
research.

Kathy, your Grubers have somehow rung a bell in my brain..... it's late
now.. give me to this weekend and let me see if I can remember where I may
have some info. I hope I'm not giving you some false hope, but somehow the
names ring a bell.
