Season Greetings to all,

Having not contributed any thing to the list recently , I feel
guilty of not carrying my share of the load.
I want to recommend a gift for your friends who might have a
drop of two of Scotch-Irish Blood left in their body. Also if you
have a " Wish List " for yourself, you might want to add this
book.

The book is called " The Scotch-Irish, A Social History." written
by the late James G. Leyburn who a professor of Sociology at
Washington and Lee University. He wrote the book in 1962 and was
reprinted last year by The University of North Carolina Press. It was
available at Borders for $15.95.
A ISBN 0-807804259-1 NUMBER. whatever that is.
Its a easy and interesting read for any genealogist. The book
does not contain any Surnames. but documents the social structure
under which our ancestors migrated from the Lowlands of Scotland to
Northern Ireland and on to America. In Part III , Bibliography Section
, the book list over 125 other sources to further ones research.

If you have done any research into the period before 1800, you
know how the Germans and the Scotch Irish push the frontier out to
Western PA.
I hope I haven't offended any one by leaving them out.
