Obituary:
George F. Carpenter, 64, for the last 10 years a resident of Amity, died at his home, Thursday night, Jan. 20, 1938, at 7 o'clock. He had been in falling health the last four months.
Mr. Carpenter was born at Nettle Hill, Greene County, Thirty-seven years ago he moved to Washington from Waynesburg, and 10 years ago moved to Amity. he was widely known especially in Washington, where for a long period he had a popcorn wagon at the corner of Main and Bean streets. He was a plumber and had followed that trade the last 36 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mary E. McGlumphy Carpenter: one son, Glenn Carpenter, Washington, and three grandchildren. Another son died in infancy.
The body has been removed to the Bebout Funeral Home in Ridge avenue, Washington, where short funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock. further services will be held Sunday, afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Amity Methodist Protestant Church. The Rev. G. E. Schott, pastor of the church, will be in charge. Burial will be in Amity Cemetery.
