Kathy, to whom did you write for the original land warrant? I have a great-uncle, Jules Renard, who had a piece of land in Bedford County.....the map I looked at seemed to have it on top of a large hill, possibly a small mountain. Any information would be deeply appreciated.

To all who are hunting Joshua Brown & Charlotte Morris:

I receive my copy of the original land warrant from Bedford County Oct 31,
1785. It is a little different from the one you get from the state
archives. The good thing about the one from Blair county, is the fact
that they list Daniel, Joshua & James Brown together as one. It is listed
exactly like this: "Dan'l, Joshua & James Brown". I feel comfortable
about assuming that they are either brothers or at least very ,very close
cousins.......but I would tend to believe brothers because they bought land
near each other and at the same time. So, now we need to find a Brown
family that had children Daniel, James & Joshua

Another item is, I have had quite a few researchers mention that the bible
record says Joshua Brown was born in Cumberland, MD. I have a copy
someone sent me of the bible page from the bible, and a copy of the
typewritten copy, both, and I don't see anywhere on either of them where it
says where he was born...the Cumberland, MD part. I am afraid someone
wrote that on it later....possibly?. However, I do think we are going to
find that is indeed where he was from, but I don't see it on the bible page,
where we could use that for proof. Does anyone know differently for sure?
This certainly is one of the hardest families I have worked, as far as
digging up tidbits and putting them together like a puzzle. I was also
told the William Brown b.ca 1765 in Md, that was in Huntingdon Co, PA at
the same time as our Joshua Brown, was also born in Cumberland, MD. And
William named one of his sons Joshua. In fact, his children have many of
the same names that our Joshua named his children. So, I am adding him
to the list of possible siblings to Joshua to look for, plus the fact that
William Brown married Ruth Lane, the niece of my Ruth Lane that married
Vincent Steven. 3 of Vincents grandchildren married Joshua Brown's
grandchildren. Seems too coincidental.
Thanks, Kathy Wells.
