Sheldon F. (Pete) Heaster, 78, of PO Box 326, Mapleton Depot, died at 11:40
a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Dec. 19 at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home,
Mount Union, with Pastor James Thomas officiating. Interment was made in the
Mapleton IOOF Cemetery.

Born Jan. 1, 1923, in Mapleton Depot, he was a son of the late George Arthur
and Ethel P. (Mills) Heaster. He was united in marriage to Barbara (Rex)
Heaster on Oct. 24, 1947, at the Mapleton Presbyterian Church.

His wife survives along with their two children: Trena S. Heaster of Mount
Union and Kirk A. Heaster of Mapleton.

Also surviving are one grandson and two brothers, Junior Heaster of Mapleton
and Don Heaster of Mount Union.

He was preceded in death by the following brothers, Kenard (Wee Wee),
Orville, Gerald and Harold. Mr. Heaster attended the Mount Union schools.

He served with the U.S. Army 774th Tank Division during World War II in the
European Theatre.

He was employed by the U.S. silica, formerly the Penna. Glass sand. Co. of
Mapleton from Oct. 22, 1953, until Feb. 1, 1988, when he retired.

Mr. Heaster was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 322, Mapleton;
a member of the VFW Post 1754, Huntingdon; and a life member of the National
Wild Turkey Federation.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed refinishing old
