Hi Bill,
The Lackawanna County Naturalization Records are in the Court House in
Scranton, on the first floor. They will not look up the file numbers by
mail. The Genealogical Research Society of Northeastern PA (GRSNP) (Joe
Bryer) has made an index of the files and the personnel at the Naturalization
Records office will refer you to him to obtain the file numbers. Once you
have the numbers you can then write the Naturalization Office and they will
make copies of each page for $1.50 each.
However, it's hard to get a response from GRSNP, whether you send money or
not. I think they are swamped with requests. I've been told by the
Naturalization Office that you can look for the file numbers in person at
their office but it's very time consuming. I am now trying to get file
numbers from GRSNP myself. Good luck. Mary in Michigan
