Recently I was able to visit the new genealogy research center in Oliphant.
We were coming back from a long trip to NY and Vermont, battling the
Hurricane Floyd situations we encountered, and limited time constraints.
With Joe Beyer's help, we found the index and listing of my grandfather's
birth in Scranton- August 22, 1897. Unfortunately, the birth certificate was
one of those "1/2" additions which meant it wasn't in order, so I was not
able to find it before the staff needed to leave.

You can imagine that I just about wanted to cry. All that travel, one shot,
and
so close with no concrete result. Even if we HAD found it, I would not have
been able to get a copy, as that machine was not working.

Anyway, I have the number of the certificate - 23916 1/2
Would anyone have the ablility to look it up somewhere else and get me a
copy?
